A Bright Future: United Against Bullying

El Salvdor | A Bright Future: United Against Bullying – Calapa Unidos | 2024

¡Hola!

We are Calapa Unidos, a youth-led movement working to stop bullying and create safer schools. In 2024, we launched A Bright Future – United Against Bullying, a campaign to raise awareness, educate students, and encourage open conversations about bullying prevention. Our mission? To empower children to recognize, prevent, and speak out against bullying, fostering a culture of respect and inclusion.

The Right-Sized Problem

Bullying is often normalized in schools and communities across La Unión Norte, making it difficult for victims to seek help. Many children lack awareness of how bullying affects mental health and where to turn for support. Without education and intervention, the cycle of exclusion, fear, and harm continues.

What did we do?

Through festivals, creative media, and advocacy, we engaged children, parents, educators, and community members in the fight against bullying.

Offline Impact

🎬 Short Film – “A Bright Future, United Against Bullying” – A powerful film featuring Shifters as actors, telling the story of two girls affected by bullying. The film was screened at festivals using a cine-forum method to spark discussions.
🎵 Campaign Jingle – A catchy song promoting anti-bullying messages, played on local radio stations and at community events.
🎭 Festivals & Fairs – Held four festivals across different districts, reaching 380 children and adults through:

  • 🎥 Short film screenings & discussions

  • 🎮 Interactive anti-bullying games

  • 🎶 Jingle performances with choreographed dance

  • 📢 Poster & flyer distribution in schools and communities
📜 Community Engagement – Shifters took leadership roles, guiding discussions, facilitating activities, and sharing personal stories.
