No One Is Left Behind

Vietnam | No One Is Left Behind - Mang Non Creators | 2024

Xin chào!

We are the Mang Non Creators, a youth-led group working to create inclusive, respectful school environments for students with disabilities. In 2024, we launched the No One Is Left Behind campaign to raise awareness, break stigma, and build empathy among students in boarding schools across Lao Cai province. Our mission? To ensure that students with disabilities are treated with dignity, accepted by their peers, and empowered to participate fully in school life.

The Right-Sized Problem

At many boarding schools in Lao Cai, students with disabilities face stigma and exclusion. Their differences are often misunderstood, and opportunities for meaningful participation are limited. Without inclusive education, positive representation, and peer engagement, students with disabilities will continue to be left behind.

What did we do?

Through creative school-based campaigns, interactive games, and online engagement, we fostered empathy, inclusion, and child leadership across five districts.

Offline Impact

🏫 School Communication Events – Reached over 200 students per event with fun, inclusive activities.
🎨 Painting Contest: “Respecting Differences, Living Together in Love” – Unified the school around a powerful message of inclusion.
🎤 Golden Bell Quiz Competition – Brought students together to learn about disability rights and empathy through a game show format.
🗣️ Dormitory Talk Show – Provided a safe space for peer-to-peer conversations, fostering understanding and openness.
📋 Friendly Rules Posters & Class Quizzes – Reinforced values of respect and inclusion across classrooms.

Online & Media Impact

💻 Mini-Game on Facebook – Created and shared three video Q&A rounds, with 3,500 views, 56 likes, and 50 comments.
🏆 15 winners were awarded for participation, making the digital space fun and educational.

Campaign Impact

  • 16,111 students and 1,000 adults reached through child-led school campaigns.

  • 90% of children reported understanding how to lead communication campaigns using the SHIFT model.

  • 75% reported feeling confident leading an activity, up nearly 23% from before.

  • Over 840 students and 56 teachers from 56 child-led groups actively involved across five districts.

  • Children’s skills in presentation, teamwork, and conflict resolution rose to 91.4%, a 20%+ improvement.

One of the most inspiring moments came when a group of 12–15-year-old Shifters confidently led an entire school event—from planning to emceeing—showing just how powerful child-led campaigns can be when given trust and space.

What’s Next?

We are scaling our child-led work by:
📌 Integrating inclusive messaging into more school events across Lao Cai.
📌 Training new student facilitators to lead campaigns with confidence.
📌 Expanding the online engagement strategy to reach more young people.
