Be Bold, Speak Up

Uganda | Be Bold, Speak Up - Information Providers | 2024

Hello!

We are Information Providers, a youth-led movement working to prevent teenage pregnancy through education, awareness, and advocacy. In 2024, we launched Be Bold, Speak Out, a campaign to ensure young people have access to accurate SRHR information, empowering them to make informed choices and speak out against sexual exploitation. Our mission? To build a future where no teenager has to drop out of school due to pregnancy, and every young person has the knowledge and support to take control of their reproductive health.

The Right-Sized Problem

Teenage pregnancy remains a major issue in Namayumba, with many young girls lacking access to SRHR education and resources. In 2023, the district recorded 1,014 teenage pregnancies, disrupting education and economic opportunities for girls. Without intervention, misinformation, stigma, and lack of sexual health education will continue to put young girls at risk.

What did we do?

Through school outreach, talent showcases, and media engagement, we empowered young people with knowledge, confidence, and safe spaces to talk about reproductive health.

Offline Impact

🎭 Talent Show – Engaged youth in creative performances (drama, poetry, music, and dance) to spark conversations on teen pregnancy prevention.
🏫 16 School Outreaches – Provided SRHR education and discussions for students, teaching contraceptive options, consent, and the dangers of early pregnancy.
🎤 4 School Speech Days – Integrated SRHR discussions into school assemblies, reaching students, teachers, and parents.
🏛️ 2 Local Council Meetings – Engaged local leaders in discussions on community-wide strategies to prevent teenage pregnancy.

Online & Media Impact

📱 Social Media Awareness – Shared campaign updates on Facebook and WhatsApp, amplifying the message.
📻 Community Audio Towers (Local Radio) – Used community radio platforms to broadcast key messages on teenage pregnancy prevention, ensuring wider access to information.
